How to open a PST file without Outlook

    Three steps. Nothing to install.

    1

    Choose the PST

Drop the file on the box above or pick it. On Windows, PST files are usually in Documents › Outlook Files.

    2

    Browse and search

Folders appear as Outlook shows them. Open any folder and search by subject or sender.

    3

    Read and save

Open a message to read it, and click an attachment to save it to your computer.

    Private by design

Your mail stays on your computer.

The viewer is our PST engine running inside this browser tab. It reads only the parts of the file you look at, so even very large archives open in seconds, and no copy of your mail is ever made on a server.

    FAQ

    PST viewer questions.

Is this PST viewer really free?

Yes. Opening a PST, browsing folders, reading messages, searching and saving attachments are free, with no account.

    Is my PST file uploaded?

No. The Mailtria engine runs inside your browser tab and reads the file straight from your disk. Nothing is sent to a server, and it keeps working with Wi-Fi switched off.

Can I open a PST file on a Mac?

Yes. The viewer works in Chrome, Edge and other modern browsers on macOS, Windows, Linux and ChromeOS. Outlook is not needed.

Why are images in some emails blocked?

Emails can load pictures from the internet to track when they are read. The viewer blocks them until you click Show images for that message. Images inside the message itself always show.

What if the PST file won't open?

The file is probably damaged. Run the free health check to see exactly what is wrong; repair can usually recover the messages into a clean new file.

How large a PST file can it open?

We have opened a 5.26 GB archive with 120,000 messages; it opens in seconds because the viewer reads only what you look at.
